I received a link in an e-mail the other day directing me to The Three Pointer, an online magazine for WNBA fans. I am always looking for good sites about women's basketball, so I clicked on the link, hoping to be taken to a good site. I got more than I bargained for, because the site I was taken to was great. It is published and Edited by Sylvia Cagle, with Daneen Lile as her Assistant Editor. The page has a cute opening graphic, with three WNBA balls bouncing off of the title. The site has over eight thousand hits, and I can see why.
This is more than just links to a bunch of web sites, or rosters for each team. There are features on various news events, such as the WNBA Be Active, Cynthia Cooper's Mother passing away, and even an article about the Demise of the ABL. There is a lot of rare or exclusive information, such as which WNBA players will be at which Be Active appearance. You can even read part of an e-mail from Sacramento Monarch's forward Tangela Smith, and a letter directly from the league. Things You Just Have To Know Ever wonder why Teresa Weatherspoon wears the number 11, and why she wears exactly eleven braids in her hair at all times? You can find out at The Three Pointer. There is a whole page is dedicated to the players numbers, entitled "I've Got Your Number." It is a list of many WNBA players, their number, and the reason why they wear their number. You can read about various players tattoos, and why they got them. You can read fan's predictions on who will get protected in the WNBA expansion draft, and send in your own thoughts on the subject. Want Inside Stuff On The Teams? Each team has their own page on the site, dedicated to news and happenings with the team and it's players. The Los Angeles Sparks page has a Feature titled "From Where I sit" written by Donna Jimenez. Donna talks of what she can see from her seat, and sometimes what she sees is not what you would quite expect! On the New York Liberty page, you can read "Some Observations From A Totally Partial Liberty Fan" by Pam Hamilton. On the Orlando Miracle page, you can read a history of women's basketball, and a title IX article. Just about every team has a corespondent, and articles and news are on each of the pages.
