Due to the shenannigans of former child star Shannen Doherty, she has left the "power of three" and her show of three years, Charmed. Due to rifts between castmates (namely Alyssa Milano, the spunkier, cuter former child star) and crew, as well as a few real-life incidents concerning drinking and driving, Doherty has bid adieu to the show that brightened her rather tarnished star. The rumor has it that Rose McGowan will be filling her shoes as the missing sister. (It should be interesting to see how the writers explain that one.) Personally, this may be the smartest substitution in primetime. Changing "Durwoods" on Bewitched was uneventful, but filling in Ms. Doherty's shoes with a woman who used to be uber-freak Marilyn Manson's main squeeze should be eventful for viewers, to say the least. What adds even more morbid curiosity to this casting move is that McGowan was raised in a cult in Italy for part of her life. Not only will she bring the requisite dark hair and light features, but also the personal experience of, perhaps, the "dark side." Will fans have a hard time with this change? It's not as if this show is the occult equivalent of Friends, but it does have its following. That following is a forgiving bunch, including being able to withstand Phoebe's (Alyssa) time as a blonde and Piper's (Holly Marie Combs) multiply postponed wedding. Also, it may be a good idea to have Marilyn Manson guest star from time to time as a demon. Hey, he's believable. Go To Page: 1
