We and the World

Well, this is a fine kettle of fish we find ourselves in. Unemployment is 5.5% and climbing. Some have unemployment insurance which they have extended, however, they fail to realize that most times unemployment insurance is not enough to pay the rent let alone medical insurance, food, car payments, car insurance, utilities and those are just the very basics.

That and the fact that a good percentage of those 458,000 are not eligible for unemployment insurance due to the fact that they were not full time employees or had not worked at their jobs for a specified amount of time, or for some other reason they are falling through the cracks.

The Republicans want to and no doubt will give the largest amount of the economic bailout to the large corporations. The reason I heard on television was to help these companies upgrade and by new equipment. Well, it has been my experience that whenever companies by new higher-tech equipment that they need to employ LESS people not more. So, what is going on?? The first large company to be getting help was IBM.. . but they were also the first company to announce, the day after the terrorist attack of September 11th, that they were laying off several thousand people.

Now there is another point of thought . . . how does a company know within 24 hours of the attack on america that is needs to layoff thousands of people??? Guess they must be psychic huh!

These must be a payback for all the healthy campaign contributions given to the Republican party for the Election 2000 warchest.

Just another thought, but before September 11th, the new administration was not going to get its defense budget passed due to lack of funds in the budget and congress was fighting about the Republicans wanting to raid the Social Security Trust Fund . . .Just so you know, the Republicans now have a blank check for defense, have already spent the nations surplus and have also spent the social security surplus. These are not my speculation, it is information I heard on one of our national news programs on television.

It also looks like Senator Gary Condit has to be the luckiest man on the planet! The media, who were all over him before September 11th, has dropped the story like a hot potato and it looks like the Senator is running for Re-election.

And as for Osama Bin Laden . . .I don't understand how the government can think that a man with $300 million plus is still sitting in a cave in Afghanistan waiting to be surrounded and brought to justice. The thought is almost comical.
