The Male Advantage

It's campaign season and the airwaves are filled with political ads, some positive and some negative.

The ads I have seen on television so far, and this is only September, are all of male candidates. Throughout the election season you may not see many television ads for women. Why? Because men have the majority of the campaign contributions.

It's a sad fact when you realize that yes, women supposedly have the majority of the money, which is a powerful thing, but that women, for the most part, would rather contribute to a man's campaign than a womans. That is the problem with women as I see it, they are so busy being jealous of each other that they can't see the long term advantages of electing fellow women to office.

One example: when Patricia Schroeder, Democrat from Colorado, was trying to run for President of the United States, her single biggest problem, the one that caused her to have to give up her bid for the Presidency was that of raising money. She could not figure out how to get the money, and evidently no one would show her.

The men on the other hand seem to have this all figured out, which makes it much easier for men to run for office.

Like it or not, men are still, in most cases perceived to be the best suited for leadership positions. Men, for the most part, contribute more money to men's campaigns.

One of the reasons is that men don't have the everyday household duties to worry about. Men for the most part are not the caretakers of the children, they do not buy the groceries, they do not take care of the home, inside or out. Let's face it, a man for the most part has it pretty easy if they have a good woman behind them, supporting them.

So you see, it is much easier for a man to run for public office.

All aspects of a campaign are expensive, if not monetarily, then with your valuable time. Men have more campaign money, more resources and more free time than do women.

On the brochures and advertisments, it is a positive for a man to have a happy, large family and that man should be seen with them everywhere. Whereas, if a woman advertises that fact, it is a strike against her in that she should probably be home, taking care of that family.
