Did you find the national Election results as interesting as I did? My favorite outcome was that of Jesse Ventura of the Reform Party being elected to the Governorship of the State of Minnesota. Is he qualified they say?? Well I ask you . . . what made Ronald Raegan qualified to be Governor of California or President of the United States.. . . after all, he was just an actor! And recently I heard that Abraham Lincoln had been a wrestler before be became President. So what makes Jesse any different. Was it because it was mostly the younger constituency of the State of Minnesota that elected him? Personally, I am very glad to see them coming out to vote . . . it's about time! and the PEOPLE have spoken! Everyone is not always going to be happy with the outcome of any election. There are always two sides and in this case three sides. In the local newspaper Jesse left this message: "Don't let people make fun of you for electing a former porfessional wrestler as your governor. Just remember 'Fargo' won Academy Awards, he said of the movie set in Brainerd, Minnesota." Jesse is of Lutheran religion and is originally from a place called Vernon Center, in south-central Minnesota. He says that one thing he will not do is forget about the rural citizens. He if a former Navy Seal and Radio talk show host and a football conditioning coach. He will be meeting first with other governors and then getting down to the business of training in for his new job. The present Governor, Arnie Carlson, extended to him this courtesy. I think this Election was a wake-up call for both parties. Newt Gingrich, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan both got the message, and neither will be back after this term. Gingrich had even been re-elected and when he began receiving challenges to his seat as Speaker of the House from his own colleagues, from his own party, he realized he was not going to stick around and be humiliated by losing his power in such a way. It is time for the voters to get out there and vote, no matter who the candidates are . . . pick one, because as you can see by this last Election, every one vote counts . . . and that means yours!
