Interview With Anodea JudithGuest Interview - Author/Healer/Spiritualist - Anodea Judith I have had the wonderful opportunity to ask Anodea Judith a few questions during a recent break in her busy schedule. Her website, Sacred Centers, is absolutely, without a doubt, one of the most impressive works I have seen. Go have a peek! The interview was conducted via email. I first read of Ms. Judith's work in a library book I borrowed a few years ago. The actual title and author escapes me, but it was filled with stories, interviews and captions of famous pagan/spiritual authors, activists, and organizations. Recently, a dear reader and friend, Ariadne, lent me a book from her shelves, titled - "People of the Earth"(Destiny Books ISBN 0-89281-559-0) by Ellen Evert Hopman and Lawrence Bond containing an interview with Ms. Judith. I will include a quote here: "Anodea Judith is past president of the Church of All Worlds. She is the author of "Wheels of Life: A User's Guide to the Chakra System" and "The Seven-fold Journey: Reclaiming Mind, Body and Spirit Through the Chakras". She is a frequent contributor to Green Egg and other publications." Jodi: Could you explain when and how you came to know you wanted to work with Chakras for healing? Anodea: Throughout my life, my focus has always been on healing the ills of our world, so every system I learn is applied in that direction. It's just that the chakras make the most profound and elegant system for healing and advancing consciousness of any that I have studied. Because the chakras map on to the body, yet represent psychological and spiritual states, they are truly a formula for wholeness that unites mind, body, and spirit -- a unity that is absolutely essential at this time. As to when this all occurred, I can only say that I first discovered the chakras in the early 70's and my sense of their importance was immediate and profound from the beginning. The importance I sensed then has never decreased, but only grown stronger and more certain. I believe that chakras provide a system whose time has come -- one that links inner and outer, mind and body, individual and culture, past and future. Jodi: You have studied many methods of healing over the past years - do you (as some healers do) integrate the Chakras with each method of choice? Anodea: Because the chakras are a basic matrix of the mind-body interface, they can be integrated with any and all healing systems. They are universal in that regard. Yet I wouldn't say I ever stick to just one method in my healing practice, but that everything a healer learns gets incorporated into their understanding of the human condition, and used appropriately with the person they are working with at the time. With some clients I do more conversational work (talk therapy), with some more body based work (somatic therapy), with others I use yoga, psychodrama, shamanic or psychic techniques, and anyone who works with me long enough usually gets to experience all of the above. I don't consciously decide whether or not to use the chakras in any of these cases -- they are not there to be used per se, but are an organizational system for understanding and enhancing the life force. Healing modalities are techniques which one can use, but the chakras are not techniques -- they are the underlying structure to the manifestation of consciousness. I can work with a client and never use the word chakra, or do anything that is chakra focused, and yet they can still receive benefit to their grounding, survival, power, or relationships issues, or perhaps their insight or understanding.
