Crystal Infusions

Crystal infusions are another way of gathering crystal energy for healing purposes. Although some spells/recipes call for setting the cleansed crystal into a glass or bowl filled with distilled water and set in the sun, many people use a method similar to that of an herbal infusion.

Preferably done on an Esbat (Full Moon) or Sabbat (Pagan holy days), it is equally effective if done at sun-rise or sun-set. These are known as the time between times.

Place a crystal of the type desired into a glass pot. Cover with two pints of distilled or spring water, and bring it to a boil. Lower the heat slightly, and let it simmer for about an hour. Crystal infusions can be used as washes, bath water additions, consumed as either hot or cold beverages, added to food - pretty much anything.

Once the infusion has cooled, remove the crystal and set it aside. Bottle the infusion in dark glass containers and store in the refrigerator. Alternatively, you can use the hot seal method - pour hot infusion into a sterilized mason jar, and put the lid and ring on. Set aside to cool. The lid should pop within 20 minutes, if it doesn't, simply store in the refrigerator as above. If the large mouthed jars are used (rarely, but it has been known to happen, can one find a dark colored mason jar or similar type), you can leave the crystal inside to add to the energy.

Hematite is a stone which is connected to the Root Chakra. This stone is shiny black on the outside, but once broken and flushed with water, it is a brilliant red (inside). This aspect ties it closely to menstrual cycles, lessening heavy flows and preventing hemorrhaging. As well, the elixir can be consumed to help reduce fevers.

Sunstone a clear golden gem found in the North-Western U.S., is wonderful in infusions. It helps ease joint pain, back pain, stress, tension and symptoms of the flu. According to Diane Stein (All Women are Healers) Sunstone elixir is a great tonic for women with chronic throat problems.

Clear Quartz Crystals can be used in infusions to be consumed for numerous healings. Clear Quartz is the most adaptable, highly utilitarian crystal. Soothing, cleansing and balancing, these aspects literally set the body to rights.
