Reiki 2 - Interview With Bryce, Reiki Master

I recently interviewed my Reiki teacher as a part of this article. I hope you all enjoy!

ierne: What attracted you to the study of Reiki?

Bryce: It all started a few years back when a very good friend and I went to a local "psychic fair". There was one particular psychic there who I felt drawn to so I went over and started talking to her and reading some of the information on her work she had. It turned out that she was a Reiki master and we started talking about Reiki. I instantly knew that Reiki was something I wanted to learn because it was so beautifully simple but still powerful and effective.

ierne: How long did you study/practice prior to becoming a Master?

Bryce: I have studied with quite a few teachers in several lineages of Reiki. I first received the master level in a modern "Tibetan" lineage two months after I got my first level I attunement. It was about a year later when I got my Usui Shiki Ryoho (Traditional Reiki) master degree. About a month after that I got reattuned to a variant called "Siddheartha Reiki (TM)", and finally, about two years after my very first contact with Reiki, I received the traditional Japanese "reiju" empowerment for the first time. I have received many reattunements from various teachers during this time as well.

ierne: What types of healings do you perform (for what illnesses etc.)?

Bryce: The standard treatment form can be used for any illness at all. There are some other techniques that some practitioners apply though. One of these is the use of a special symbol which allows the practitioner to channel energy that works on the mental/emotional level, this is very good when working with people coming from troubled backgrounds or with a lot of stress or sadness in their lives. Some branches of Reiki also teach about the chakras (although the original system was Japanese, much Tibetan Buddhist influence can be seen in some branches) which can also be treated for specific problems. Doctors Usui (Founder of Reiki) and Hayashi (One of Usui's students) are said to have written manuals on specific hand treatments for illnesses as well.

ierne: Have you had many successes?

Bryce: Yes, I have had a lot of success working with Reiki. I had a friend who had a liver tumor and was very ill. I attuned her boyfriend and we worked on her several times over the course of a week. When she went to have it checked at the end of the week it had vanished without a trace. I have also had success relieving arthritis pain, headaches, lung infections, ear infections, and assorted injuries of many types. Reiki
