True. Despite the numerous advancements women have gained in society, it is deemed un-ladylike for any woman to be a public drunk. They lose their friends, their job, and in some cases their family.

Alcoholism is not a disease.
False. Alcoholism is a chronic disease resulting from genetic, psychosocial and environmental factors. This disease is progressive and oftentimes fatal.

Alcohol can damage some major organs such as the liver and heart.
True. Repeated alcohol consumption in large quantities over time damage many major organs including the liver, heart, kidneys, brain, and stomach.

Women metabolize alcohol quickly and efficiently.
False. Women do not metabolize alcohol as quickly and efficiently as men, due specifically to the lower production of an enzyme called Alcohol Dehydrogenase (ADH) and a high body fat to water ratio.

Some influencing factors of the woman alcoholic include stress, physical, sexual or emotional abuse, lack of self-identity, and depression.
True. The problems faced by men and women are basically the same but the attitudes of men and women towards these same problems are different. Women are expected to cook, clean, nurture, entertain, teach, etc., yet we are not taught adequate coping skills to handle the stresses of a typical day.

A woman's body has a significantly higher ratio of muscle to water than men do.
False.. A woman's body has a significantly higher ratio of fat to water than men do. This simply means that when a woman has a drink, her body is less able to dilute the alcohol, which result to her having a higher concentration of alcohol in her blood and the alcohol having a greater impact.
