A wild life officer had to shoot and kill a wolf after it had been struck by a snowmobile near a Lake called "Hina" on December 13 1998.

Officer Ryo received a call Saturday afternoon that a wolf was found still alive on the ice after apparently being hit by a snowmobile. The accident was so severe that it was almost impossible to save him.

"A friend of mine who is a firearm safety instructor had seen the wolf, and he was mad that this would give snowmobiling a bad name," said Ryo. "I talked to another guy at the landing and he had seen the wolf after the first guy and he was mad the wolf was still alive (and suffering). Ryo got to the wolf and he was just about dead. His eyes were open but he couldn't lift his head so I shot it."

He was about to face his death. His death was in front of him, and he was waiting to die, so that he could get relief of his pains. But the angel of death was tantalising him.

Two snowmobilers who were seen making tight turns in that area of Hina Lake are being sought by law enforcement officials. These guys were sued and the gave decision against them as they were found guilty. They were charged US$1000. The officer who shot the wolf was given bonus on his brilliant decision of killing the wolf as no doctor was near by and the wolf was suffering from horrible pain.

After this incident snowmobiling is been prohibited in the area. Only some people are given the licence to snowmobile in the area under emergencies.

The wolf's body was sent to a local museum, and the whole story is written as an history in the museum as a threat to law breakers.
