If you are looking for a place that has something for everyone, consider Wisconsin Dells for your next family vacation. Whatever the season, there is something to do in the Wisconsin Dells area. Though summer is the busiest time there, many families are finding it a good location for winter fun, too.

In the winter there is skiing; both downhill and cross country, as well as snowboarding and snow tubing. Go ice fishing on Mirror Lake. All year round you can find fun with 18 hotels featuring indoor waterparks. There are casinos and Music Theater all year long.

You can choose from a variety of accommodations, including; Bed & Breakfasts, campgrounds, hotels, motels, resorts, waterfront lodging, waterpark hotels, and small lodging.

WISCONSIN DELLS TRIVIA: There are over 6,000 rooms and 4,000 campsites in the Wisconsin Dells area. These combined can accommodate 50,000 people overnight!

Wisconsin Dells is an intriguing mixture of rowdy, boisterous, midway and serene natural beauty. The two main roads in and out of the town, where many of the motels and attractions are, often become heavily clogged with traffic during peak summer time periods. The few short blocks of downtown Wisconsin Dells are a riot of small shops and kiosks selling everything from t-shirts to fudge.

But the wonderful thing about the Dells is, if you turn off of the main street, within a block you are in a small town residential neighborhood. Within half a mile you can find tree sheltered back woods areas that look as though they have rarely seen civilization. Here you find the campgrounds, lodges, and resorts, tucked away from the frantic activity of the downtown sections.

WISCONSIN DELLS TRIVIA: The local names Dell, Dells, and Delton derive from the French "dalles" meaning a secluded or constructed gorge. Dell Creek winds its way for 25 miles through sand and hill country west of Wisconsin Dells.

Kids love the Dells. And why not? Here in the middle of Wisconsin is the world's largest waterpark. There are amusement/theme parks. There are riding stables, go carts, and miniature golf. There are rides on ducks (amphibious vehicles), robot world, bungee jumping, and water sports. Nearby there is the Circus World Museum, the International Crane foundation, and the Mid-Continent Railway Museum. For those with more mature interests there are numerous golf courses, nearby Wollersheim Winery, balloon rides, and boat tours of the Dells.

There are fishing, canoeing, drive in theaters, and auto museums. With several state parks in the vicinity there are hiking, swimming, and climbing for those who want to get out and enjoy nature.
