Chateau Margaux has always represented the grand style of Bordeaux. Due to the extremely large price tag, I have tried very few bottles, but I long to try more. Chateau Margaux is a first growth of the Medoc. The grand chateau looks like a palace sitting at the end of the avenue surrounded by fields. In 1978 the Chateau was acquired by a new owner and the wine produced was quickly celebrated as exquisite.

So why am I telling you all of this? What is the point? The point is that even though I have not tried the 1995 vintage, I have read it is the greatest Chateau Margaux has ever produced. Yes, this is all the encouragement I need to break open my piggy bank while calling my local liquor store begging to be put on a waiting list for the coveted Chateau Margaux. If you have read this far and your hand is going for the telephone receiver, hold on till you hear the price. The 1995 Chateaux Margaux is going for $200 to $290 U.S. If you're Canadian, you're looking at about $300 to $400.

Yes, this is definitely a bottle for collecting and should be in your cellar for at least five years. If you still have your hand on the phone after reading the price, then make the call. You should not regret having a Margaux in your cellar. Take a look at Best Chateaux In Bordeaux by Classification.
