I usually don't like to write on web sites or companies that are trying to sell us, the public, wine or other products, but I have found a company that is quite unique. It is are called Rare Finds Wine Importers. Most of this company's products are not available in your local liquor stores. The wines are older vintages of different varieties of vineyards. I am quite aware there are a lot of companies providing this service in the United States and Europe, but it is unusual to find a company such as this in British Columbia. This will be a great source for local restaurant to add some depth to their wine list as well as a source for the adventurous to actually purchase a rare find that is ready to enjoy now. If you are a customer, or a potential customer, Rare Finds also hosts wonderful wine tastings. This is a nice way to taste the products before you purchase a case. Remember an older vintage of good wine is not going to be cheep but the right one is worth the extra dollar. At the tasting I tried a 1992 Pommard 1er Cru at $59.95 a bottle and thought it was wonderful. Then a 1989 Chambolle Musigny going for $99.50 that I quite enjoyed and a 1997 Saint Aubin 1er Cru for $49.95 that I sipped till the last drop. If you are in search for some new wine purchases and your palate is searching for something you can not find on the liquor store shelf you might want to order a catalogue. I heard that starting in January they will be caring Burgundy vintages available from 1928. You can reach this company by calling toll free 1-888-240-5473. If you are in British Columbia call (604) 267-7200 or fax (604) 267-7262.
