Make a NOISE!!!!!!

Starting the computer and waiting for it to shut down can get quite boring, isn't it? Changing the screens from time to time can take some  of that away. But what can really make a noise is having the computer make some sounds through these daily rituals. If you have a sound card and a set of speakers in your computer you can associate sounds with the various actions in Windows - not just Start up and Shut down, but also emptying Recycle Bin, Receiving mail and so on. And it's really simple to do it. All you need is a set of wav files. You'll find plenty on the Web for free. Try any of the mentioned below.

Download a set of sounds and you are ready to go. We recommend that you get at least two long clips and any number of short ones. The two long ones can be used for startup and shutdown.

The next step is to associate the sounds you have downloaded with the various action in Windows. To do this, go to Start > Setting > Control Panel > Sounds.

This will open the lists to all the actions in Windows and several application installed in your computer with which you can associate the wav files. Click on the event and then click on Browse to navigate your way to the place where you have stored your wav files (Note: only WAV Files will work). You can associate sounds with any or all the events listed there. After you are through, click on 'OK' or 'Apply' to start using the the scheme. You can also create several sets and name them accordingly, so that you can change the scheme as per your whims and fancies with just a single mouse click. So go ahead, and explore the world of sound.
