MAC:
An abbreviation for Apple Macintosh,
or Apple Mac. A popular type of computer with a easy to use user interface.
Macs are often used by designers.
MAIL BOMBING:
The practice of sending thousands
of messages, or a few incredibly large messages, to an email account with
the intention of causing the owner as much aggravation as possible.
MAIL SERVER:
The hardware and software used by
your ISP to send and receive your email.
MAIL BOX:
Where your messages are saved by your ISP until you decide to download
them. When they arrive on your computer, they wait for you in your inbox.
MAILING LIST:
Subject based forums whose messages are distributed by email. You
send your email address to a central point and then you receive all the
messages that have been sent to that list. There are two kinds of mailing
list - announcement - only lists, which only send out messages from approved
users, and discussion lists, to which anyone can send.
MESSENGER:
Netscape's email program and part
of the Communicator package (home.netscape.com)
MICROSOFT EXCHANGE:
A decent email program, but one
that has since been surpassed by Outlook, among others.
