HEADER:
The gobbledygook at the top of a message that automatically generated by your email program. It tells you when the message was sent, to whom, form whom, and which path it toll through the Net.

HISTORY:
A record kept by your browser of all the sites you have visited within a specified period. To find it, click on the window at the top of your browser.

HIT:
A measure of a visit to a web site. When someone visits a web site, that site has received a hit. Sites will often tell you how many hits they have received so far.

HOMEPAGE:
Either the page your web browser automatically loads when you run it, or your own personal page which you have created and desitned on the web.

HTML Hypertext Markup Language:
is the code which creates every web page. Your web browser reads the HTML and then presents the page on your screen.

HTML EDITORS:
These are used for writing the code tht makes web pages. The latest versions like CyberStudio(Mac), Frontpage (Windows 95) and Dreamweaver (windows and Mac) are simple to use and work like desktop publishing programs.

HTTP Hypertext Transfer Protocol.:
This is the protocol used to carry traffic between a web browser's computer and the web site. In the early days you used to have to type it in to the browser window. Msot modern browsers alredy have the /HTTP:// section stored so you can key in the address by starting with 'www'.

INFOSEEK:
One of the popular search engines.

IE4 AND IE5:
These are abbreviations for Internet Explorer 4 and5.

INTELLIGENT AGENTS:
Enbale  you to find information on the World Wide Web without using search engines. Autonomy's AgentWare (Windows and Mac) is the most popular.

INTERNET (THE NET):
The Net is simply lots of computers connected to each other that can communicate with each other. The computers range from household PCs that are temporally connected  via an Internet Service  Provider (ISP), to the servers that are a permanent part of the Net. All the information on the Net is sitting on a computer somewhere.

INTERNET EXPLORER:
Microsoft's popular web browser also  known as IE4 and IE5.
