Face To Face With Windows 2000

6. My Documents
In Windows 2000, My Documents is higher in the shell namespace than My Computer. This placement is important. After all, our data is more important to us than information regarding the file system.

7. Task Manager
Though Task Manager has been present in Windows since Version 3.1 but it was never this good. If you want to end a naughty program, hit CTRL + SHIFT + ESC, select Task Manager and choose End Task. Immediate and effective, that's what it is.

8. CTRL + ALT + DEL that actually works
The three finger salute has been an integral part of Windows since its inception. But it's usage does not yield the desired result always. However it is definitely more effective in Windows 2000 where it atleast tries to identify what went wrong and also suggests ways of dealing with it.

9. Keyboard shortcuts in applets
Even little programs such as Notepad are much better in Windows 2000. You can actually use keyboard shortcuts such as CTRL + S(Save) and CTRL + A(Select All) that are unavailable in Windows 98 version.

10. No more restarting the machine three times during installation.
Your machine works perfectly at the first boot after installation. The drivers, plug-and-play devices and all the programs that you select are installed in one go. Even network setting like the TCP/IP address can be handled during the installation procedure.
