Hi everyone and thank you for stopping by my site, Wildlife News and Humor. I've not written an article for awhile as I've been busy with doing some work at my Wildlife Preservation and Education topic plus just work in general. I've been sharing my stories of baby possums, feral felines, ducks and parking-lot foxes and realized that I needed to let folks who subscribe to this topic in on the updates!
First of all, as you all know, I'm a duck nut! Love to watch the baby ducks and have missed visiting them at the pond. Not to fear, new ducks have arrived at my job and waddle around the parking lot trying to be all "cute" and looking for handouts. If anyone thinks a duck is senseless, they need to meet the group at work! These guys and gals sure know who to work a crowd! Now, along with these quackers, we have the slim and trim feral feline fixtures that sit atop the dumpsters. Twice now as I've walked past what I thought was an empty dumpster, kitty has leaped out of the interior, right across my shoulder, and skedaddled to the other end of the lot. What's up with that? I have food, in hand mind you, and they leap and run and no amount of "here kitty, kitty, kitty" will bring them back. Oh no. I have to walk clear to the other end of the parking lot just so I can put the cat food out. These guys really keep me on my toes. Now the extra thrill has been with the two foxes that have also decided that the entrees offered at the parking lot buffet (no blue plate specials) is pretty darn good. I mean, if I were a feral cat or frisky fox, some crunchy multi-flavored cat food mixed up with turkey or chicken would definitely win out over foraging in the dumpster! But hey, that's just me. The yard at home has been relatively quiet except for the baby possum. He's a cutie. No sign of the raccoons. It's starting to cool off here in Florida so that means I'll have squirrels resident in my attic again. Problem is, the ceiling in my office decided to crack and the whole darn thing came crashing down! I have a wonderful view, now, of all the beams and I've been keeping a close lookout for anything "moving" up there. The ceiling is set to be fixed very soon but in the interim, I have my handy dandy flashlight in hand and a bevy of felines lined up at the door in case a critter decides he'd like to make himself at home, in my home!
