The long running and very popular show is now closed and Montecore, along with the other animals of Siegfried and Roy, is residing in his habitat at the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat - http://www.siegfriedandroy.com/animals/g... located at the Mirage. If you've never seen how these big cats live, take a look at their 100-acre, Little Bavaria - http://www.siegfriedandroy.com/biography... . I don't dare let my kitty's see the pictures. They'll be demanding the same type of environment! If you want a glimpse of how Siegfried and Roy live, take a look at the Jungle Palace - http://www.siegfriedandroy.com/biography... located just outside of Vegas. Be sure to "Click Here" on the page to see some very lavish decorating, exquisite art, a ceiling mural, object d'art and, oh yes, a giant white tiger roaming through the house!
The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat is host to not only the Royal White Bengal - http://www.siegfriedandroy.com/animals/t... and Siberian tigers, but also the Magic White Lions -, http://www.siegfriedandroy.com/animals/l... leopards and a black panther. There is also a resident 4-ton Asian elephant at the Garden, Gildah, and 10 Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins at the aquatic habitat. The Dolphin habitat serves as both an educational and research facility and has proved to be a very successful breeding environment.
Siegfried and Roy have been dedicated to the conservation of endangered animals for many years and hopefully they will be able to continue with their personal contributions for many years to come.
This update is for those who might not have seen it when it first appeared in August 2003. It was the announcement of three rare white tigers born in a zoo in northeast China. I've added the link so you can see the four images of the babies. http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/news/0804200... This is extremely good news as the numbers of white tigers needs to be replenished and these three, one boy and two girls, can help to rebuild their species.
In other news reported by the Animal News Center, an orphaned Siberian tiger cub has been rescued outside a small village in Russian this past week.
