Wolves Can Stay
The outcome of this litigation sends a clear signal that our legal system will protect reintroduced wild wolves, that those who violate these laws will be punished, and that, at long last, the howl of healthy populations of wild wolves will once again be heard in their historic natural habitat in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona and New Mexico. -------------------- This rescue was so traumatic and emotionally draining - with conversations and incidents etched in my mind like granite... my spirit cannot go back there not yet. Writing about it is just not possible for the time being. Read the rest of the story "The white man must treat the beasts of this land as his brothers. What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, also happens to the man." -Chief Seattle of the Puget Sound Suwamish Tribe, 1855 Controversy will be around as long as the wolf will be....and the life span seems to get shorter and shorter. Wolves have but one mortal enemy - humans. We need to see beyond the fear that afflicts us. Look to the beauty, spirituality and wisdom that these animals bring to us. ******************************************************** Most current Buffalo update! After the ABC Nightline news special discussing the plight of the last wild buffalo herd in Yellowstone Park last week (February 9); people are abuzz about the atrocities happening just outside our nation's oldest National Park. This is an incredible journalistic opportunity to report on the slaughter of the last wild and free roaming buffalo in our country. This herd is protected inside Yellowstone National Park as "wildlife" and degraded to "livestock" when they enter Montana. The public is screaming out against the injustice thru the internet, mail, phone, letters and demonstrations against the slaughter. I encourage you to cover this issue. Please contact us for a press information pack, interviews, photos or video footage. A few of the possible story "angles": Why is the governor of Montana, Marc Racicot (who is being groomed for a post in the George W. Bush administration) being criticized by federal agency leaders? And why has the State of Montana caused the Federal government to expend over $3 million dollars by complicating the DEIS process?
