Courtship is funny with animals. Of course, us humans have some interesting rituals for courtship!! It is an elaborate aerial display that begins with both birds flying in circles, the male above the female. Suddenly, the male swoops down toward his mate. Moments before contact, she turns upside down and thrusts her feet upward. With talons locked together, the two birds tumble toward the ground. But at the very last instant...the birds break free. Their bond confirmed or renewed, they then temporarily fly off in different directions. Whew! Glad we don't have to go through all that!
