Techno vs, Traditional Witchcraft

Jan 1, 2000 - © Christy Huelsenbeck

In our coven the rule is 'While many things are flexible we hold to as much tradition that benefits us.' I feel that technology does have it's place in our ever changing religion. To cling to tightly to traditon is to choke ourselves. We cannot grow and experience new things. But to remove certain things would rob us of some of the beauty of Witchcraft. It is a fragile balance that is maintained on such a new front.

I feel that the biggest trouble with the new age of technology is the instant gratification that it brings. Those who have been years into Witchcraft know the work that it takes, and the satisfaction that it brings. For the people who are just beginning, they often do not understand the dedication that has been put into the information offered on web pages, or in other forms. I have received requests from people to send them a copy of my Book of Shadows, or other information that is personal such as this. It is my hope that with the techno age also comes a personal dedication and responsiblity to treat our religion and those who share of themselves with the respect they deserve and use that information wisely and with reverance. Knowledge is indeed power and should be held open for all who seek, in whatever guise it may come in.
