Candle MagicThe small tapers take a little longer to burn out, but these will come in colors. Your local pagan shop should have some sort in stock. You can also find good quality 4" colored tapers at Lytha Studios online: http://www.lythastudios.com/misc/candles... These may take a little longer to burn out than tealights, but they're still a good cheap buy. The boxes offered from Lytha Studios work out to be 20 cents a candle, and I've bought them at local shops for 25 cents each and sometimes 5 for a dollar. Be sure to purchase a candleholder that's the right size, as tapers will vary in diameter. A ½" diameter holder usually works for most types of tapers. If your holder doesn't have a cup to catch wax drippings be sure to put a protective cloth on your surface! Votives are another option for spell candles, and mine usually burn out in about 5-6 hours. Votives are probably the easiest type of quick-burning candle to find after tealights, and come in a variety of colors and fragrances (where the tealights and short tapers are usually unscented). Scented votives are a good short cut when you don't have essential oils to "dress" your candles with, or don't want to take the time. The biggest advantage to votives, though, is that they are easy to leave burning overnight in a candle cup in your sink or bathtub. Since they're short, they don't tip over very easily the way tapers can. Longer burning candles, such as taller tapers (the 8-9" kind used on dinner tables), and pillars are good for spells that need to be carried out over several nights. One of my local pagan shops stocks tall colored pillar candles in glass jars that are perfect for long-term workings. I have a rainbow colored one at home that's become my default "I want to send energy" candle. If you have a Hispanic food market near you, or a section of Hispanic foods in your local grocery store they may stock similar candles, as many people use these candles to light devotionals to saints. You can also get scented candles in jars from various sorts of home interior stores (such as Pier 1, Yankee Candles, White Barn Candles/Bath and Body Works, etc), though these will be pricier. The size of your candle, as well as the color and scent, will be determined by the sort of working you wish to
