Relating to DeityAlthough Wiccan lore and much ritual is built around honoring the duality, sexuality, and fertility of Male and Female, it doesn't mean that you can only build connections with one Goddess and one God (or one facet of each) to "balance" things. Wicca isn't a religion of balance, per se. If you feel called by several Gods (or facets), then by all means work with them, though you'll most likely want to limit yourself to calling one pair at a time in your ritual work. I work with Bridget and Loki now, but in my earliest days of Wicca I just called the Lord and Lady to ritual, because that's what the books said. And there wasn't anything wrong with that... my rituals worked fine, and I felt the presence of deity there even though I didn't know exactly who answered my call. With so many options to choose from, it's understandable that those just starting out will have no idea which Gods to invite to ritual. This is all part of forging personal connections to deity. After a while, I decided I wanted to look into the Greek Pantheon, since I'd learned Greek mythology in school and was a little familiar with it. I liked Athena, and I called on her a good deal, but we never really connected. It was similar to talking to a friend of a friend... we didn't have much in common, and the relationship never really flourished, though she did help me through a very difficult final exam my last semester of college. When I figured out that things just weren't working out, I decided the only thing I could do was to keep looking for deities I could connect to. Bridget found me first. Perhaps she'd always been there, as I was born on Imbolc. Once college was over and I had more time to apply to my study of Wicca, she began to really make herself known to me. I would see her in meditations. I would dream about her. I would get these odd flashes of inspiration at the worst times, and then the words would just seem to flow through me from somewhere else... out of me and onto paper. I would hear her nagging me in my head to get up and write things. She's a lot like an older sister to me. And yes, I know some of this sounds a bit crazy.
