Spotlight Interview #1

K: How do you feel about the idea that "all gods are one god", as is presented in some Wiccan books?

S: I believe we can't ever know. We can look at the deities and see the sacredness and awe in them. We can see glimpses of the universe. I think all gods are one god is another form of archetype, a way to perceive without stressing the mind that hasn't been hand touched by a patron/matron.

K: Good answer. Here's a nice loaded question... how do you interpret the Rede?

S: Oh, I have an essay I did on that. But, in a nutshell, it’s an ethical precept. It all boils down to your own ethics, and that's how you would apply it. K: Is that essay online? I'll link to it.

S: No, it was for the FOI.

K: Ah. Ok. So, what's your take on people who literally believe in the Rule of Three? Do you think we really get back things 3-fold?

S: No, I don't. I think the key is balance. If you're all literal, you miss the subtlety. Karma isn't a baseball bat and neither is the "Law of 3". It's a teacher, and sometimes you get taught how to handle the curveballs, the “sucky” and the horrible. Sometimes you get taught that you're doing that to yourself and you need to snap out of it.

K: How do you feel about doing spells? Is magic a last resort when mundane action has failed?

S: I like spells, they're fun. Magic should be balanced like everything else. Always a last resort? You're selling your own skills short. Always first? You're not thinking things through. Taking the time to look at the situation and developing a plan is key. It should always be a mix of magic and mundane, though.

K: I agree. Switching off to some lighter questions, what's your favorite sabbat?

S: Yule...presents!

K: Favorite method of divination?

S: Magick Mirror or tarot.

K: Favorite Tarot deck?

S: Witches Tarot (Ellen Canon Reed)

K: What's your biggest peeve about Wicca?

S: I don't have a peeve about Wicca. For me, it’s been a rich and magical journey. Self-proclaimed "Wiccans", well, that's an issue.

K: Would these be the sorts who read one book and are suddenly experts?

S: Oh yeah, I don't like that in any category, but this one is vastly subjective and people/"experts" are looking for a bible.

K: What's the one most important thing you think a new seeker ought to
