There are 3 kinds of toys in this world. "Toys I'd like to have" toys, "Toys I have" toys, and "I used to have one of those" toys. Well, the good news is that the world of toy collecting is not dead. Just check out ebay under Barbie, Johnny West, lunch kits, McDonalds, or any proper name for a brand. Check out a local toy emporium and stand in awe at the modern collections of 'fun'.

As good as the old toys were, new ones are available that are aimed at the nostalgia collector. No, Marx has not re-released the Johnny West series (too bad) complete with Jane, the Indian, town, teepee, horses, accessories, stagecoach, and all the neat stuff. No, the Lone Ranger is not available at your local toy store with the various incarnations. No, you cannot get a Hoppy, Gene or Roy cap pistol complete with uniform. No colouring books, no models, no, no, no, well, you get the idea.

But, you can purchase some neat Hall mark ornaments for your cowboy Christmas tree. This year they have a Lone Ranger and Silver, and a Hoppy lunch kit and thermos. In past years they have issued miniature lunch kits from the 50's and 70' featuring the Ranger, both have sold out quickly. The current Lone Ranger is astride a galloping Silver was sculpted by Duane Unruh, is a faithful reproduction. Get it now, it'll disappear soon. The Hoppy Lunch kit opens and closes, but the thermos does not hold any hot liquid. But you could probably save up those dimes as Hoppy asked every kid to do in the kit itself.

Breyer, the king of quality horse toys, has re-released a Trigger toy! It comes with accessories, but no Roy or Dale. The Roy Rogers museum in Victorville can help you with this inspiring collectible as well as a whack of other Rogers branded items not available anywhere else. You can also call 1-888-249-5880 and ask for the Roy Rogers catalogue full of NEW collectibles. Actually, there is a new Lone Ranger toy. From the makers of Captain Action comes a current Lone Ranger and Tonto doll! The clothes are sold separately, but the dolls are a great, great item. Available at comic stores, or through Ebay, ask, run, but get them!

From AC comics and Bill Black comes a reprint series of Roy Rogers comics. Currently at issue 4 or 5, they feature a photo cover with an article and a story from the 1950's. Available at the Roy Rogers museum, or through AC comics, these are an awesome addition to any Roy collection.
