Learners' Resources: Online Language Lessons

60-credit module. European Union residents can take up to 40 credits free, but for overseas learners there is a fee, and a quite costly one at that. The only information I found about overseas fees stated the following: "£208 per 10 credits for students from outside the European Union." However, the course is said to be excellent, and the department also offers online classes in Welsh history and literature. One big advantage is that classes can be taken at any time, and are not restricted to the academic calendar. The site provides basic information about the course, as well as a contact name and address.

Acen
Acen publishes multi-media language learning materials, including CD-ROMs, books, and teaching materials. However, the link above leads to free trial of a few lessons from their Online Service. The beginning units contain a plethora of resources, exercises, vocab lists, and dialogues. There are also audio and video clips in RealPlayer format. There is a registration form online for the complete course, which you can pay for via credit card. Fees are as follows: "Registration fee...£9.95, Monthly membership fee £14.95. Termination fee...£9.95." The information is a little hard to find-from the initial page, click on Free Trial Materials, Your Account, and then Registration.

That concludes the list - happy learning!
