Bee Stings

body could go through this again. I hit it with EVERYTHING. Osha under the tongue, APIS under the tongue, some Motherwort tincture in water to keep me from panicking and ice on the face. This time it never got out of control at all. How's THAT. There was some minor swelling under my eye, but in two hours I was out from under the ice-filled wash cloth and cooking dinner.

Now here's my question. If Osha root tells your histamine receptors to simmer down, and that's the message they get every time they're faced with a substance they once thought they were truly allergic to, is it possible that in taking Osha root with every assault one might re-train one's body not to react to that substance? Got any thoughts? Put them in the discussion at the end of the article!

As I was snuffling for links for this article I was shocked at the ho-humness of some of the first aid for bee stings, especially for children. One EMS web site explained that the anaphylactic reaction is actually caused by leakage from the capillaries and the worst signs to look for are swelling of the lips, hoarseness or wheezing and shortness of breath which indicate that the capillaries are leaking sufficiently to inhibit the lungs or windpipe from working.

In feeding the word "bee stings" into the royal search engines, I began to find web sites where folks were actually USING bee stings for healing! Yes indeed, it seems that there are many MS patients who are getting relief from their worst symptoms with controlled bee stings to various parts of their bodies. They each admitted that yes, it hurts like hell, but it's worth it to ease their symptoms. One friend's poison is another friend's cure!

Another important piece of info is here regarding a link between taking NSAIDS (like Advil) and a greatly increased chance of suffering an allergic reaction to a bee sting even if you haven't been allergic before.

So I walk a little more gently these days, quietly announcing my intent to the ever-busy bumblebees, and listening to the different songs of their buzzing to stay just a bit more in tune with our working around each other. (But the Osha root is right there in the tool bucket!)

So sure, it's a jungle out there, but did you know that there are more than 40 other Home
