Two, Oh Two, OH TWO!I've met a few GroundHogs in my day....SOMEhow I suspect the FOOD will win. I've seen them spring traps, MOVE traps, push full-sized pumpkins out of the hole, throw rocks back at me and tunnel around just about ANYTHING I put in their way in order to get at my plants. So NOW what do we do? Will there be ONE noble GroundHog who does its Prognosticating Duty, sits cross-legged, takes a few deep breaths and channels the Weather Channel? Who knows. With weather like we've been having, they'll all think they overslept! (a friend just told me the Daffodils are in full bloom in Gramercy Park today) But of course that would only be if it woke up TODAY when we went into the 60's. By TOMORROW, the 31st of January, we should have a charming mix of ice, sleet, snow and slush with temps bouncing around between the 20's and 40's and by GroundHog Day itself, I believe the word they're using is *BRISK*, partly sunny (oh the SUSPENSE of it all....) with a high in the mid 30's. Yeah, I'd grab a bite of dandelion and head on back to bed, myself. Now. If ONLY we could get them to dance around for a little SERIOUS RAIN. We've got some reservoirs in VERY unhappy trouble around here. But that's another article. So, Happy GroundHog Day to you all, Happy Two, oh Two, oh TWO!
