But wait! Is Punxsutawney Phil the ONLY GroundHog around??? Hardly! Canada has their own Wiarton Willie (is he ever classy! He's an albino GroundHog!) And then of course there is the tale of Phoenix Phil in Arizona. (And you thought Global Warming was gonna be rough??)

No GroundHogs where you live? We grab our prognosticators where we can find 'em! And by the way....just how much wood COULD a woodchuck chuck....if a woodchuck COULD chuck wood? According to those great folks at Cornell.....about 700lbs worth. You REALLY want to know how they came up with that figure, don't you? They measured the amount of dirt displaced in the creation of a complete GroundHog Burrow. If the burrow had been full of wood (?) the Would Be Wood Chuck Would have to Chuck out about 700 lbs of it........How's that.

And finally, I want to point out that the SPLENDID photo of one of the marvels of marmotdom is being used through the kind permission of Lynne Charles who has the finest site on GroundHogs on the entire Net. In return, I've invited her to link to our GROUND HOG DAY CAROLS!! (If you go to Lynne's site, you can send GroundHog Day Cards to all your friends!)

Oh. And don't forget to leave some carrots out for the Great GroundHog, Charlie Brown!
