Celebrations circle around!

YOUR WREATH CAN SPEAK FOR YOU. There are many web sites like this one focused on The Language of Flowers and this one and this one and some even specifically for Sacred Plants of Winter Solstice. The more lists you look at, the more contradictions you'll find, but you know what? Intent plays a key role here. If you put a sprig of, say, thyme in your wreath because you saw it on a list as symbolizing health, and then find it in a book symbolizing bravery.....not to worry. For you, it symbolizes health. Intent is a powerful thing. Do you leave the pine out of your wreath because it symbolizes fertility? Of course not. Besides, so do sunflowers, oak, hazel, fig, and grape! You may well want to pop a head of garlic somewhere in your wreath to protect your home from plague, monsters, foul weather and vampires!

OK, so let's make this wonder-wreath. Let's see, we'll put in some cedar, a few chili peppers, some cinnamon bark, some strings of popcorn wound around it, the garlic (of course), holly, juniper, pine, rose hips, some sprigs of sage and some yarrow flowers. Isn't that lovely! So what have we wrought upon the house and its inhabitants? Healing, purification, wealth and protection; love and fidelity; spirituality, success and healing; luck and protection; the garlic we know already, ("away monsters and vampires and take that foul weather WITH you!"); protection against lightning, poison and evil spirits; MORE protection against evil people, accidents and attacks by wild animals or thieves; fertility, having a vigorous old age and continual joy within the house; love, healing, luck and protection against stress and household upheaval; immortality, longevity, and wisdom; and the yarrow flowers bring courage, love, and they attract friends and distant relatives. Can your door hold all of that?

Well, the weeds and garden faeries and I wish you all that and more. When next we meet (+/-Dec 22) the days will be getting longer, I PROMISE. In the meantime, get some rest - best gift you can give yourself and your family. Better rested and well than exhausted but "did it all..." Merry Merry All!
