Gatecrashers

Many people send invitations to important events to people they consider important. I remember a classmate at my First Communion who carried a book full of "well wishes" (from people who declined to attend) signed by everyone from Big Bird to the Pope. I remember him because of the rejections (but nice ones) he carried around. A couple in Japan recently had a wedding to remember because of the uninvited guests who showed up.

Kayori Takami had to reschedule her wedding around a summit planned in the hotel she was to be married in. Russia's current political situation caused a delay in the proceedings. The hotel ended up doublebooking the summit and the wedding. After all, could you say no to a bride or a world ruler?

In the spirit of a "no necktie" summit, Yeltsin and Hashimoto got comfortable and crashed the wedding. Yeltsin conveyed the well wishes of all of Russia and wished the couple many children.

These two superpowers may have some difficulty hammering out details of possessions taken in WWII, but they were able to relax and make a memorable day for all the guests at the Takami-Gotoh wedding.
