Reception Speech Tips

Are you a little nervous about the upcoming wedding?  You're not the bride, groom, or maid of honor--so what's the problem?  You're the best man and you're expected to give a speech.  They'll be taping it--and if you flop, you'll have the rest of their lives to try and live it down.

Are you going to open with a joke?  A sappy story?  A cliche?  What can you possibly say to let everyone know that you take your responsibility seriously--but that this isn't too serious--It's fun, and love, and friendship--AAACK!

Deep breaths, I've found a few tips for you.

  1. Remember these are your friends--tell them a story, be comfortable.
  2. It gets easier once you open your mouth and start talking.
  3. You will most likely be introduced by a Master of  Ceremonies.
