Bella Mafia

When you prepare for a wedding you tend to see your event everywhere. Proms are reduced to "would I choose that corsage or that one for the mothers?" Church services are dissected for timing and positioning. Everything you eat goes through the "would I serve this at my reception?" test.

I experienced this first hand this weekend while watching a mini-series on CBS. Bella Mafia began by setting up the relationships of the women in a mafia family. With three weddings in two hours--I didn't need to stretch to find story fodder.

The first mafioso wedding belonged to Sophia--and was the dream of many women I've talked to. She wore a simple white gown with fresh flowers on her head. Although we tend to think of this as being the description of a casual, natural edding--it wasn't. She was stunningly elegant. The gown had no poofy bows or extra lace to detract from the simple, beautiful design. Even through the later weddings--I kept imagining Sophia's dress.

Keep your eyes open as you collect ideas for you special day. Sometimes you find inspration in the oddest and most unexpected of places.
