Planning a wedding is an expensive business!

 

Whether you are planning a small soiree for 10 of your best friends, or a site down dinner for 500 - chances are you're looking a more money than you originally planned.   Luckily, there are ways to save money without cutting important corners on a day that you want to be perfect.

 

Make your Own Invitations

With a nice printer and heavy paper, you might be amazed at what you can create!

 

Runners

Try looking for aisle runners in unusual places.  Large card shops will often carry these at a deep discount with their party supplies.

 

Competition

Play your vendors against each other-but play nicely please.  You can bring a quote from one vendor to another and ask them to beat it.  Often, you will get a better rate just by telling the vendor that you will be visiting others with their quote and asking for the lowest rate upfront.

 

Take Advantage of Your Friends

You will have friends and family coming out of the woodwork around your wedding.   Take advantage of any and all discounts you can get from them.  You may have restaurant relatives who can get you a discount on catering, a bartender who can get package liquor rates, a hotel manager who can work a great room rate, a travel agent who can work doubly hard to find you a great honeymoon...

Jessica, it's a good article. Instead of measuring a wedding by money, we need to measure it by beauty and the values of lasting marriage. About invitations in particular, David (my son) and Cari fu ...
