Planning Your Reception MusicThere are certain things that tend to fall to the bottom of our priority list when planning a wedding. Music is often one of them. Nuweb has set up an easy to navigate site that can take some of the confusion out of the search for wedding music. Bands list their details and location. No more sorting through the phone book and haunting other parties. You can tell at a glance who does pop music, how many strings are available or whether a band plays swing. Start by choosing a location. You can choose the US, Canada, or an area outside these countries. The US is further broken down to your area. As I browsed, I was able to find at least a few listings in most large metro areas and some for many smaller areas as well. Canada and International listings were limited to two each when I visited. Once you are looking a your geographical area you will see helpful details such as: "Band plays approximately 200 mile radius of Minneapolis. Featuring songs by Buddy Holly, Elvis, Carl Perkins, Everly Bros., Fats Domino, Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry and many more. We have played for at least a hundred weddings. We can do the grand march, the dollar dance, throw the bouquet and garter and yes, we can do a few polkas and a waltz or two. 25 years experience. Do you want a fun, affordable band at your wedding reception? Give RJ and the Stingrays a call or e-mail message." How's that for detailed? I would guess most people can look at that and immediately know whether or not this would be a band that they should call for a demo tape. The item I found most helpful was a small detail - bands almost always list an e-mail as well as a phone number. I like being given a choice and I appreciate people taking queries through e-mail. Thumbs up to this service, I expect them to grow in the future and grow as a useful wedding service. Note: Bands do have to pay a small amount for a listing. This is by no means a comprehensive listing, but it does appear to be a great jumping off point in your search.
