Places to Go and Things to Do in 2002 - Part VI

Wow! It's already February. And it's also close to Valentine's Day. So this week I'm taking you to some places you may want to go with your loved ones.

I'm a sucker for romance. My husband is pretty good at it, too. He usually gives me flowers and/or chocolates and we go out to dinner if I wish (sometimes I like to cook a special meal for him). I read some of you like to get a good book for the occasion.

What's your favorite Valentine's Day event?

I think it would be just great to curl up in a warm bath with some chocolate, a novel and bubbles, too. If you like to get out, though, there are some special things going on in Washington to celebrate the holiday.

Attend an Old-fashioned Valentine's Day Celebration on the Long Beach Peninsula

Spend some time on the Long Beach Peninsula for an Old-fashioned Valentine's Celebration, February 14-18, 2002. We're talking a Chocolate Taste-off, special dinners, a stamping and scrapping week-end, a Valentine's Day dinner theatre, spinners and weavers, a kite-making seminar, glass float appraisals, piano and vocals and lots of other things too numerous to mention. The Long Beach Peninsula Visitor's Bureau is adding things as this goes to press, so be sure and check back regularly to see what's up. You need to get reservations booked soon. The 14th will be here before you know it.

I might add that we were just at Long Beach and had the best homemade Key Lime Pie at Doogers Restaurant in town. Get on down to have a piece and you'll make instant points with your loved one, guaranteed! They also are known for and have the best seafood around. Check it out.

Also check out the Beach Dog for more events such as the Antique Show and Sale in Ilwaco. There's also an Affirmation of Love event going on.

Hmm.

Be There/Participate in a Marathon/Half Marathon, 5k

Millersylvania State Park is the site of a marathon, half-marathon and 5k run Sunday, February 10, 2002. My husband ran a marathon once, so I know the work that goes into training for one. It's great to go out and cheer for the runners, especially in such a pretty site as Millersylvania State Park. Check at the calendar for that event and others at this site: http://www.coolrunning.com/newcal/wa1.ht... - it's a great sport and I know how much runners appreciate your cheers.
