Mt. Rainier Climb - Part VI - Carolyn Power Tells All

Just a little grass roots group forming to do something so powerful just proves that if you put your heart and mind into something you can do just about anything you want. And there is no better feeling than to be doing something for others.

The feeling I have inside knowing how this has changed the other womens' lives by their commitment all year long and how my life has changed just by taking a risk and going out to do something to help save lives is the best feeling I have ever had in my life.

As for next year being for the same charity, as far as I'm concerned, yes. However, when you get a group of women together, we have to work for a year, sometimes things change. I believe everyone should have a say in what happens.

Next, things will be a little different because there needs to be an understanding about true commitment and what it means to each person and the cause. We started out with over 20 women and on August 19-20 only seven headed to the summit. That's another story...another chapter in my book.

Anyone can join by contacting me, Carolyn Power, at cpower@cheerful.com - as for others wanting to start their own group: just believe in what you are fundraising for and believe it deep in your heart.

This year things happened just out of the blue. Everytime we were turning a different corner in the event something great was happening. Sometimes things happen for a reason and other times you have to work really hard for it to happen. Once you have that focus and keep going up the mountain whether it is Mt. Rainier or the mountain of life, you can do it. It's hard and sometimes very difficult. However, just don't lose your focus and keep going "one step at a time."
