Premium Wine and Food Festival in Seattle and Spokane

Get ready to kick up your heels and tantalize those gourmet taste buds in Seattle or Spokane this spring and summer. There are two events ready to please the discerning diner.

Seattle Event

If you are a wine connoisseur and love gastronomic delights, then mark your calendars for the biggest and best wine and food festival in Seattle, Washington, on April 8-10, 2005.

"Taste Washington" is the crème-de-la-crème of the gourmet world, featuring wines and foods of the northwest. The mantra is "Think Big" and think big it is.

Magnum Kick-off Party

The celebration begins Friday at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center: http://www.bellharbor.org/directions.asp... . Sixty Washington vintners will be on hand while a silent auction takes center stage at the MAGNUM kick-off party where vintners will be pouring from large containers.

Step up to the Washington wine-tasting bar and get ready to partake of some delicious fare from some of Seattle's finest chefs under the purview of corporate executive chef Gregg Monette: http://www.columbiahospitality.com/bio.a... . There will be chefs from Friday Harbor House, http://www.fridayharborhouse.com/ and The Inn at Langley, http://www.innatlangley.com/ , to name a few.

While there, participate in the silent auction of large format bottles, Washington wine-country trips and restaurant gift certificates. Shelley & the Curves, http://www.curvesband.com/ , will be providing live music. Get your groove on and have a good time.

The event, from 6:30 - 10 pm is $75 per person. Ages 21 and over only, so don't plan to bring the kids.

Education Day

Saturday the festivities continue at the convention center with education venues.

Breakfast at 8:30 is served with sparkling wine, and includes a feast for the ears as Washington Wine Commission Chairman and Ste. Michelle Winery Estates CEO Ted Baseler and others discuss why Washington is the perfect climate to produce wine. Cost is $25. The rest of the events this day are $45.

There's a 12:30 luncheon with guest speaker, Leslie Sbrocco, columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, book author and PBS wine expert. Then from 5-6 there is a tasting with the masters. Throughout the day there are seminars galore on everything from "Hurrah Syrah" to "Trade Secrets of Wine and Cheese Pairing." Terms used for wine are also used for chocolate and coffee, so perhaps you'd like to register for "The World of Wine, Chocolate and Coffee."

Taste Washington Winery and Restaurant Showcase

If you just want to visit the winery and restaurant event at the Qwest Field Event Center, http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/123303 , on Sunday, you will be delighted to taste and see all that's offered.
