If you're a senior or even a junior in Washington State, it's not too early to be thinking about colleges and universities. Perhaps you want to get back in the swing of learning if you've been out of school for a while. There are even continuing off-campus education courses at a lot of Washington colleges and universities. You certainly have a myriad of choices.
The largest and most renowned university in Washington is the University of Washington, http://www.washington.edu/ . My daughter and husband are alumni of the university in Seattle; I have taken some classes there. It's almost a city in its own right, with over 35,000 students on a beautiful campus north of Seattle http://www.ci.seattle.wa.us/ . There are also two satellite campuses in Bothell, http://www.ci.bothell.wa.us/ , and Tacoma, http://www.cityoftacoma.org/10Home/defau... . The school is well known for its academics with a teaching hospital, excellent computer and business schools, a fantastic school of engineering, a school of fisheries, home to the Huskies, etc. Click on the links and read more about it. Perhaps you'd like to take a virtual tour: http://www.washington.edu/univrel/visito... . There are quite a few tours at this link. Take time to get to know the school, as it has a lot to offer. You'll spend a lot of time at the University site if you're interested. It's a beautiful campus on Lake Washington; there's even a boat rental service and nearby Kayak and Yacht club open to students and the general public: http://archives.thedaily.washington.edu/... . The community nearby, the U District, is a fun place to hang out. The University Bookstore, http://www.bookstore.washington.edu/ , is a must if you visit the area. Check out the University District Street Fair happening this May: http://www.udistrictstreetfair.org/ . Visit all the unique shops in the area. It's a culture cruise you won't want to miss. I've given a lot of information on our largest university, but there are a lot of other schools in the state that deserve attention. Allow some time to research. They all have unique roles in our educational community. For instance, Western Washington University, http://www.wwu.edu/home.shtml , in Bellingham is known as a teaching college. The most progressive liberal arts colleges in the state are the Evergreen State College, http://www.evergreen.edu/ , and Antioch University Seattle, http://www.antiochsea.edu/ . There are a myriad of junior colleges with two-year degrees and technical colleges for those wanting a technical degree. Washington State University, http://www.wsu.edu/ , in Pullman is the University of Washington's rival in sports. If you know anything about Washington State you know about the Huskies, http://gohuskies.collegesports.com/ , and the Cougars, http://wsucougars.collegesports.com/ .
