The Seattle Waterfront

Then you will run into Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. Where else in Seattle can you see a shrunken head, a pig with three tails, Romanian porcelain and other tourist items, including Native American jewelry - all in the same place? Go there: http://www.yeoldecuriosityshop.com/Merch... . You'll see from the cyber-visit it's a place to hang out. You find surprises around every corner.

At Pier 55/56, you may catch a cruise to Tillicum Village, a must see for the tourist: http://www.tillicumvillage.com/ . The four-hour cruise includes an Indian-style salmon buffet, a stage show and time to explore Blake Island State Park. I haven't been in a while, but sure enjoyed it when I did.

Pier 59 houses the Seattle Aquarium, http://www.seattleaquarium.org/ and the Seattle IMAXdome theatre, http://www.seattleimaxdome.com/ , currently playing The Eruption of Mt. St. Helens and Into the Deep. Check out the new "Life of the Drifter" exhibit at the Aquarium. It's all about the Moon Jelly, the Pacific Northwest's most common jellyfish. You will actually have the aquarium overhead as you tour some of the facilities.

Anthony's Pier 66, http://www.anthonys.com/restaurants/info... , is the place for traditional northwest dining. You may also visit the Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center/Museum, http://www.ody.org/ , at Pier 66, where, in a virtual, interactive experience, you can actually sit in the seat of a ship-to-shore crane and try your hand at loading and unloading freight.

Perhaps you would like to sit in a kayak, paddle and take another virtual tour of the waterfront. How you experience the exhibit depends on how fast you paddle. The exhibit is ADA accessible.

I left out my favorite part: shopping at all the import shops along the way. You will have a myriad of choices. In order to do all this you will need to spend at least a night in Seattle. You may want to check out the Seattle Marriott on the waterfront at Pier 66: http://www.point-travel.com/seattle/marr... .

The Edgewater on Pier 67 is a great place to stay: http://www.edgewaterhotel.com/ . When the beatles were in Seattle in the 60's, one of them fished out the window from their room; I can't remember who it was. I really wouldn't recommend it.

It's a luxury hotel with a Pacific Northwest flavor. The rooms have hand-crafted pine furniture, Ralph-Lauren bedding, river rock fireplaces and views of the water or the Seattle skyline.

If you stay there you may also venture onto other Seattle sites like the nearby Pike Place
