Stressed? Visit Washington and Unwind.

Columbia Jacket
Sometimes I like to just read a good book. It's a way to unwind and forget my troubles. Here's the link to an interview I did with Sunny Walter, author of a great book to get lost in, Washington Nature Weekends, http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/wash... . If you can't remove yourself physically from your stressors, then travel in a book to a calmer place. Sunny has written about places to go for a weekend away. Sunny takes you not only to lots of interesting places in her book, but tells you where to experience "...bird and whale migrations, peak wildflower blooming, wintering elk and trumpeter swans, fall color, seal pupping and osprey chicks."

When you immerse yourself in nature, it's hard to be stressed. I don't remember where I read this, but I read once if you look at trees for five minutes it drops your stress level. So if you are unable to get out, hopefully you can look out the window and enjoy the trees.

If you want to see some of the most beautiful trees in the world, visit the Hoh or Quinault Rainforests. The sights are so magnificent you won't have time to carry your worries. Read about them at http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/wash... or http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/wash... .

Whatever you decide to do to alleviate your stress, I recommend time in Washington where you can venture out and forget your woes. It's pretty hard not to get in a better frame of mind when you look at the ocean and its mighty waves, http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/wash... . Listening to the waves is a good prescription for happiness.

Remember the good times and get out and create some more. Visit Washington and drown those stresses. You'll build some good memories to carry you through those times when you can't travel. If you don't live in Washington or can't get out in the wilderness, then I hope these links will take you away to a less stressful time.

Nature is a great healer.
