Walking, Hiking, Biking and Kayaking Washington

Here are a lot of other useful links that will take you walking around the state, whether you want to walk with your dog, take a kayak trail or climb a peak. The list is a place to start in planning some Washington walking:

The Washington Trail Association

The Great Washington State Birding Trail

Washington Mountain Bike Resources (for bikers)

The Chinook Trail Association

Issaquah Alps Trail Club

The Mountaineers

Pacific Northwest Trail

Washington Water Trails Assn. (for kayakers)

Mt Si at North Bend (for some vertical)

Methow Valley Sports Trails Assn.

Friends of the Centennial Trail (Spokane)

Washington State Parks

Lake Ozette to Cape Alava

The Pacific Northwest Trail (some serious hiking)

Boardwalk and Discovery Trail at Long Beach

Lake Quinault hikes

Explorer Dog! Dog Days (places to hike with your dog)

Though nowhere near complete, this list is enough to keep you busy for a while. Pack a lunch, a backpack for some serious walking, or just a bottle of water for a short stroll.

If you're doing some Seattle city walking and maybe want to stop for a Starbucks, just type in "Starbucks" and click on Seattle at Metrobot. The addresses are listed. If you want to walk in the neighborhood from your hotel room, just type in the name of your hotel and you'll get a map and see all the businesses within walking distance; some are hyperlinked. I hope the site grows to include more cities. What a great way to get a feel for the urban neighborhood.

Enjoy Washington and all it has to offer on foot. Then be sure to say hello to a passing walker; it just might be me!
