As March begins, the Wallflowers; second single, "Letters from the Wasteland," gets added to radio airplay lists around North America. On March 11th, fans wish keyboardist Rami Jaffee a happy birthday (he turned 32) and wait and wonder what the future holds. During the last week of March, Wallflowers fans begin to find out. Here are the exciting details:

The Wallflowers are scheduled to appear in a commercial for Coca-Cola. The spot will begin airing on April 20, 2001 (no time has yet been announced). The Rami Lounge Web site reports that the commercial was filmed during mid-March in Los Angeles and will feature a performance of the band playing their newly remixed single, "Letters From the Wasteland" ("http://www.rami.jaffee.com/"). The Wallflowers Network adds that, in the commercial, the band plays the song as bed music for the spot, and that lead singer, Jakob Dylan, comes off stage and gets handed a Coke and a towel ("http://www.the-wallflowers.net/main.asp"). The commercial may be a good way for the band to jump start sales of their album, Breach.

The music media announce that the Wallflowers have been selected to open the first round of tour dates for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers ("http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID...").Eventually, however, the opening dates are cut back to only three.

The Wallflowers' official Web site then reports details about the band's U.S. spring tour("http://www.wallflowers.com/noflash_tour/..."). Unfortunately, no Northeast concerts are announced. The tour dates provided so far are: 4/26/01 Louisiana Tech (Ruston, LA); 4/27/01 Sam's Hotel & Casino (Memphis, TN); 4/28/01 Jazzfest (New Orleans, LA); 5/1/01 Hard Rock Hotel (Orlando, FL); 5/2/01 Sunfest (West Palm Beach, FL); 5/4/01 River Stages Festival (Nashville, TN); 5/5/01 Mid-Town Music Festival (Atlanta, GA); 5/6/01 Verizon Wireless Amphitheater (Irvine, CA); 5/9/01 Gill Coliseum (Corvallis, OR)--OPENING FOR TOM PETTY; 5/11/01 Idaho Center (Boise, ID)--OPENING FOR TOM PETTY; 5/12/01 Gorge Amphitheatre (Seattle, WA)--OPENING FOR TOM PETTY; 5/15/01 Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Denver, CO); 5/16/01 Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Denver, CO); 5/18/01 Woodlands Pavilion (Houston, TX); 5/19/01 S.
