February was a relatively busy month for the Wallflowers. Briefly, the band performed at a Texas rodeo show, on Japanese stages and at the Hard Rock Hotel near Disney World. Fans read an insightful interview with Jakob Dylan and started hearing the band's next single on the radio. Also, Michael Ward celebrated his 34th birthday.

Here are the details:

On February 4th, fans learned that the Wallflowers were added to the April 28, 2001 line-up at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. (http://www.insideneworleans.com/partners... Other acts appearing at the Festival include Dave Matthews, Mystikal, Brian McKnight, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, and Lucinda Williams. According to Sonicnet.com proceeds will be donated to several New Orleans programs. ("http://www.sonicnet.com/news/story.jhtml...")

On Febuary 5th, the Wallflowers played the Stock Show & Rodeo in San Antonio, TX. (Here's a photo of Jakob performing at this show: "http://www.mysanantonio.com/lifestyle/ro...") A music critc from the San Antonio Express-News wrote about the concert: "Nearly 9,500 tickets (combined sales and giveaways) were issued for Monday's show, but fewer than 4,500 fans witnessed the concert. Enthusiasm, however, was nothing short of overwhelming, as the band received a loving reception for its classic American rock sound, reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty." On February 8th, the British version of GQ Magazine published an insightful interview with Jakob Dylan. He spoke a lot about his father, Bob, and mentioned: "If I just had one-hundredth of my dad's talent I'd be more than happy." And regarding psychedelic music from the mid-1960's, Jakob commented: "I could never get along with half that crap. A lot of it, apart from maybe Jimi Hendrix, just seemed silly to me." Gulping the house chianti, he added: "But do you know what the best album to come out of that whole period was? `John Wesley Harding' by my dad. Great fucking record." (The full interview is posted at "http://www.the-wallflowers.net/article03...")

A few days later, the band flew to Tokyo, Japan to start their first Japanese tour. (The band played several cover songs during their encore for the first time of their 2000-2001 "Breach" tour.) On February 10th and 11th, they played in Tokyo. During the second Tokyo show, the band added the Beatles' song "Don't Let Me Down." On February 13th, the Wallflowers performed in Fukuoka, Japan. On February 14th, the band played in Osaka, Japan where their encore included The Band's song "The Weight." Their last Japanese stop occurred on February 15th, in Nagoya, Japan. At that show, the encore included the Vince Taylor/Clash song "Brand New Cadillac." (Each of these cover songs had been performed during the band's tours for "Bringing Down the Horse.")
