Live at Madison Square Garden (Pt. I)Later, during The Who's performance, Mike (wearing a knit cap and glasses), Greg, and Ben Peeler worked their way into the front floor crowd. Rami sat in the seats on the side of the stage, just behind the soundman, with his arm resting on his wife's shoulder as he watched The Who's performance. Jakob and Mario were nowhere to be seen. (I doubt that Jakob stayed for The Who's performance. I can't blame him, since it wasn't very inspiring, except for Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son) who was great on the drums.) The reviews in the media about the Wallflowers' performance that night were mixed, and on one NYC talk-radio station downright cruel, which I thought was unfair. It wasn't close to the best of the five Wallflowers' performances that I had seen over the years, but under the circumstances, it was a good one. Since the Tuesday concert ended after midnight and I had to work the next morning, I didn't have the time to try to meet up with the Wallflowers as they left the arena. Plus, it's impossible to know which exit they'd leave from, since the Garden has many exits. I left the show that night looking forward to the next concert on Friday, and hoping that the band would by then be more relaxed when playing before The Who crowd. I wasn't disappointed. Stay tuned for the details.
