Reasons Why Not?

I've been asking people why they do or do not take vitamins and minerals, and I get a lot of different answers from people. Some totally amaze me.

Some people say that they do not take them because they do not need them. Most people do not get the right amounts of vitamins that their bodies need in the foods they eat, specially with fast foods and convenient foods. They might feel okay, but truth is they do not have sufficient amounts of vitamins for what they might be doing in their lives. Certain activities take up more vitamins on a person. If you are ill a lot, have arthritis, trouble with your gall bladder, sinus problems, alergies, or any number of things that you have "learned to live with", you need certain vitamins to get better.

Other people tell me they don't like to take vitamins. I will be the first one to admit that I need more vitamins than I take. I have to force myself into taking the vitamins that my body needs. I know it is hard to do sometimes but if you think about the consequences to not taking them, it is a lot easier to take them. In essence, you will need more pills from a doctor if you let yourself go without and get ill.

Still other people tell me that they don't believe in vitamins. This one really gets to me. How can a person not believe in what your body needs? Your body is made up of vitamins and minerals. If you are missing certain vitamins, you will get certain ailments. I know people that have alergies and take pills from their doctor everyday when all they really need is vitamins. I know others who would rather have their gall bladder taken out when all they really need is vitamins. Other people are so riddled with arthritis that they cannot move, and all they need are still another group of vitamins.

Some people believe that vitamins actually make them sick or that they can overdose on vitamins. Certain vitamins like A and D can be toxic if given a very high dosage for a long period of time. But truth is most vitamins like C and E are not toxic. Your body knows how much it needs, and if it doesn't need them, it will shed them through your skin or urine.

If your body needs vitamins, wouldn't it be better to try? What can it hurt? Absolutely nothing, but it sure can help. Give it a try.
