Lowering CholesterolThis article is taken a lot from the Vitamin Bible (referenced at the bottom), Diet Revolution by Dr. Robert Atkins, and Let's Get Well by Adelle Davis. I use them, because people might not go out and buy these books to read, and I believe that it is very important to know. I admit that I am not a doctor, and these people know a lot more than I ever will, but I have been studying this and have seen it work. Lipotropics are important for aiding in moving cholesterol. IT helps increase the production of Lecithin in the liver, which keeps cholesterol more soluble, detoxifies the liver and increases the resistance of disease by helping the thymus gland work more efficiently. Contrary to most beliefs, everyone needs some amount of fat in the system. There are good fats and bad fats. Everyone knows that Cholesterol is bad for hardening of the arteries and heart disease, but most people do not know that it is also essential for good health. At least two-third of your body cholesterol is produced by the liver or intestines. It is found in the brain, adrenals, and nerve fiber sheaths. Cholesterol aids in the metabolism of carbohydrates. While in the skin, it is converted to Vitamin D. It is also a prime supplier of adrenal steroid hormones, such as cortisone and sex hormones. Many people think that eggs raise your cholesterol level, but it does not. Egg consumption is lower today than it has been in 45 years, but cholesterol levels are not. Eggs not only have the most perfect protein components of any food, but contain lecithin. Lecithin aids in fat assimilation. It also raises High-Density Lipoproteins (HDL). High-Density Lipoproteins (HDL) carries 20 percent of blood cholesterol. HDL is composed principally of Lecithin. This helps to transport cholesterol through the blood without clogging the arteries. The higher your HDL, the lower your chances of developing symptoms of heart disease. A low carbohydrate diet helps to lower cholesterol. The more carbohydrates ingested, the more cholesterol produced. My sister is a prime example of this. She has been on a low carbohydrate diet for four months. Her cholesterol went down by nearly a half, and she has dropped 45 pounds. She feels healthier than ever, and the doctor can't believe how much lower her cholesterol level is. Many people find this to be unhealthy, but there is proof positive that it is healthy and more so than the "balanced diet".
