Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means that it needs fat for proper absorption. This vitamin is stored in the liver, fatty tissues, heart, muscles, testes, uterus, blood, adrenal, and pituitary glands.

Vitamin E used to be measured by weight, but now it is measured according to its biological activity in International Units (IU). For this vitamin is composed of tocopherols. There are eight tocopherols, which are alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta, a theta, Of these, alpha-tocopherol is the most effective.

Vitamin E enhances activity of vitamin A. Products with 25mcg of selenium for each 200 units of Vitamin E also increase its potency.

The US Recommended Daily Allowance for adults is 30IU of Vitamin A. Sixty - Seventy percent of the daily dose is excreted in the feces. Vitamin E is stored in the body for a relatively short time.

RECOMMENDATIONS

I am by no means a doctor so I recommend that you find one that believes in vitamins and minerals. They are hard to find, so I suggest you look through the phonebook, through the Internet, or even ask your local health food stores if they know of a Holistic Health Center near you.
