Visual Arts

The White Rabbit put on his spectacles. `Where shall I begin, please your Majesty?' he asked.

`Begin at the beginning,' the King said gravely, `and go on till you come to the end: then stop.'

Lewis Carroll had these words coming out of the King's mouth in "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", in the final chapter. This is what came to mind when I looked at the clean, white space waiting for me to begin writing about my subject, Visual Arts. Easier said than done!

How far back do I go? And into which culture? Only contemporary stuff? Only historical? Only American? Only "western", when there are uncounted other arts traditions all over the world?

No, probably the best would be to assess the audience. Rather than my speculating, how about your telling me what you would like to read here. I can discuss quite a few aspects of quite a few media - questions about a technique that you are trying, or would like to try... or a good bibliography of art "how-to" books, or art history books. "Good" arts periodicals, arts cf. crafts... you name it. I happily anticipate searching through the tremendous numbers of additional sites which are added daily to this amazing medium, the Internet.

I look forward to hearing from you!
